Wedding

Kanch believes that the process of designing a wedding dress is a journey of self-discovery for both the client and the designer. " A wedding dress is like no other as emotions and expectations are running high" Kanch's experience of designing couture collections has helped her to really understand and interpret the needs of the client. "not only is this a process of self-discovery, but one learns a lot about fabrics, cutting, dress making and the clients own personal sense of style. After a few months of intense interaction you are left with a new friend"

The wedding dress design process usually begins with a first meeting:  "we meet in person and have a chat about the type of dress they may like, when and where they are getting married, what type of wedding they will have, formal or informal". Following the initial meeting Kanch will prepare a proposal and once a rough timeline is agreed the fun begins.

The next step is for a Kanch to create a mood board: this is a really great process where my mind runs free taking inspiration from our discussions and drawing as many sketches as possible, exploring all the possibilities. "I usually refine the sketches and finalize several strong designs which I the present to the client" This can be a longer but magical process of experimentation, from which even more new ideas can stem. Kanch then returns to the drawing board to come up with the final drawing, this one goes into a toile…

Kanch loves the process of working with new clients. "There are no rules as to knowing what will truly suit someone, the energy they give out, their mannerisms and the way they dress really says it all".
